OVERVIEW
Hamster Corporation has ported the original arcade Super Contra to the Nintendo Switch, under their Arcade Archives line. The voice acting lines that were absent in the Contra Anniversary Collection are present in this version. It is available through the PlayStation Store (PlayStation Network service).
In addition to the original play experience, several options are available. The Arcade Archives interface allows capturing video and screenshots, which can be shared with other players online. It is also possible to record high scores and publish online for ranking competition.
Interestingly, this port includes both the Japanese and North American releases of the arcade original. Players can choose which to play from the game menu. There are 4 modes of play: original Japanese version, original North American version, Hi-Score Mode and Caravan Mode. The specifics of the latter 2 are currently unknown. It is possible that the Hi-Score Mode is used for the score publishing aspect.

-Similar to Hamster’s PS2 port of Contra, this version consists of a proprietary emulator, which runs the ROM images of the Japanese and North American arcade originals. Some, though not all, of the original DIP switch settings can be customized through the user interface provided.
