OVERVIEW
My Arcade Gaming released a handheld edition of the original arcade version of Contra. Included with this edition is the arcade version of Super Contra. The game can be selected on startup.
The arcade unit features a D-pad and buttons, as well as Start and Coin buttons. There is also a Reset button, as well as a Start switch/slider to begin a new game.
Volume is adjusted through a bar button on the top surface. Brand new copies feature a sticker over the game screen, consisting of a screenshot of gameplay from the Jungle stage. The device requires 4 AA batteries to power, sold separately. Alternatively, the device may be powered via 5V micro-USB connection, also not included.
Simultaneous 2 player mode is retained in this handheld, achieved through a connector cable for linking to another unit. The number of players can be selected on startup.
The package consists of a flyer featuring their library of tabletop arcade machines, as well as pocket players. There is also an instructions manual and the multiplayer link cable. The product feels rather bare-bones for the selling price of $40 USD, before shipping. The build quality and overall design to the unit also don’t quite justify the price.

-This port of Super Contra consists of an integrated emulator (outdated version of MAME) that runs the arcade original’s ROM. The emulator software includes a simple interface upon powering on the device, prompting the number of players and also describing the controls.
