OVERVIEW

The PlayChoice-10 runs a slightly modified ROM of the North American release of NES Super Contra (Super C) on an internal emulator. The arcade system permits timed game sessions, with players having to deposit money to allow more playing time. Super C itself is identical to its NES source.

Cheats

10 Lives: At the main menu, press RIGHT, LEFT, DOWN, UP, A, B, START.

For 10 lives in 2 Player mode, use the same code above, but either press SELECT before START or highlight 2 Player mode before entering the code. 10 lives are provided at the start of the game, as well as when continuing after a Game Over.

Sound Test Menu: At the main menu, hold A+B and press START.

-The games featured on the Playchoice-10 cabinet are modified NES ROMs. They are run on the arcade’s hardware that essentially emulates the NES. The ROM of the NES version of Super Contra (NTSC-U) is one such example. The data is larger in size compared to the retail releases due to additional code at the end of the ROMs that is responsible for displaying the arcade’s timer.

-Like most arcade games of its time, Super C includes numerous DIP switches that can be set to various configurations to alter the gameplay. The switches set the following parameters:

Units of time (Coin A/Coin B): How many units of time are provided per coin (player 1/player 2). Options include:
