-The cheat codes to this game are not removed from the North American or PAL versions; they are simply “dummied out”. That is, they are still present in the game (their triggers result in the cheat code’s effect), but disabled. In extremely rare situations, a few players have reported the lives being inexplicably set to 30 in the options menu of the North American release during play.

-Keeping with the tradition of many SNES games, holding L+R+start+select resets the game.

-Contra III on the SNES features unused game data. One of the more prominent pieces is a text string:

The text string reads:

USE IN JAPAN ONLY.

ORKS IN THIS
